"Turn of the Century"
At the turn of the century many things accured that seemed insignificant at the time, but would later prove to be essential to the Mugshot style of music. Bassist John Patrick and guitarist Derek Adkins were bangin' out death-metal tunes with Jason Lutz and "Dead Body Chuckers" while drummer Hunter Edwards was across town in a blues band with a group of older and seasoned musicians. In a chance meeting at a mutual friends home in Akron,Oh. Edwards and Adkins walked into a jam session that the two's mutual friend had been trying to make happen for a while by then. The music flowed very naturally between the two and they new they would meet again somewhere. It wasn't until 2003 that John finally met drummer Hunter Edwards, but as with Adkins....the music flowed very naturally. The three quickly recruited Jason Lutz and formed "True Self". The band was a great experience for everyone, but after a 7 track recording and a handful of shows it swiftly ran its course and disbanded as fast as it had formed. As Hunter and Derek continued writing with no real plans of a musical future, the thought of playing and writing songs of a slower and more raw nature appealed to the 2/3 of what would become "Akron's Trio". John was regularly herrassed until showing up and completing the threesome where he had always really been. Patrick's new found love for bands like "Clutch", "Queens of the Stoneage", "Kyuss"and "Fumanchu" fueled the the others into writing a collection of pushey, relevant "heavy blues rock metal" songs..... and it began. Since that cold January of 2004, the band has become the fourth act under the Perdel Music name, released 2 CD's and recording a third, played a slew of shows and continues to explore new musical areas and new musical collaborations. We hope that you are all on for the ride.
